Goldec collects the details we need to sell and deliver your order, and consensual marketing purposes. This policy covers goldec.co.ke, our WhatsApp and phone lines, and our shop at Terry House, Nairobi. We handle your data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.
1. What We Collect
When you order or contact us, we record:
- Your name and phone number
- Your email address, if you give one
- Your delivery address or the courier office you collect from
- The items you ordered, the amount and how you paid
- M-Pesa transaction codes and payment confirmations
- Messages you send us about an order, a return or a warranty claim
We never ask for your M-Pesa PIN, card PIN or online banking password. Anyone who asks for these in Goldec's name is not from Goldec.
2. How We Use It
- To confirm, pack and deliver your order
- To call or text you about delivery time and your availability
- To send order updates on WhatsApp or SMS
- To handle returns, refunds and warranty claims
- To keep sales and tax records required by Kenyan law
We may send you marketing SMS or email campaigns when you opt in to receiving promotional messages. You may opt out anytime.
3. Who Sees Your Details
We pass your details only to the people who complete your order:
- Our riders and the courier you choose (G4S, Fargo Courier, matatu parcel services or others) get your name, phone number and delivery address.
- Payment providers such as Safaricom M-Pesa process your payment.
- A brand's service centre receives your name and purchase details when you make a warranty claim through us.
- Marketing tools we use for promotion where your data is used by us only.
We do not sell, rent or trade your details. We share them with government authorities only when the law requires it.
4. Cookies and Website Analytics
Our website uses cookies and analytics tools to count visits, see which pages people view and measure our adverts. These tools record details such as your browser, device type, pages viewed and approximate location. They do not give us your name or phone number. Turn off cookies in your browser settings if you prefer. The site still lets you shop.
5. How Long We Keep It
We keep order records for as long as you might need them for returns, warranty claims and repeat orders, and for as long as tax and business laws require.
We keep your details (name, email, phone number, and general location) for promotional purposes until you opt out or when we remove you ourselves.
6. Keeping Your Data Safe
Only staff who handle orders see your details. We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access or misuse. However, no online system can guarantee complete security, but we work to keep your data safe and only use it as described in this policy.
7. Your Rights
Under the Data Protection Act, you have the right to:
- Ask what details we hold about you
- Correct wrong details
- Ask us to delete details we no longer need to keep by law
- Object to how we use your details
Send your request by email or WhatsApp. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
